Explore Egypt, Other Worlds, Free at the MFA on Veterans Day Print E-mail
Nov 11, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Wed. Nov. 11

The Museum of Fine Arts, as it is wont to do, opens its doors free to the public on Mummy Maskmajor holidays and if Veterans Day isn't a major holiday - especially in this world of two wars on multiple fronts and lots of notions about what the hell we should do - I don't know what is. The MFA calls these "Community Days" and Bank of America is the sponsor on Wed. Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. You get to roam the whole museum, but the hook right now is Egypt. The big exhibit is "The Secrets of Tomb 10A: Egypt 2000 BC," featuring masterworks from an Egyptian tomb of the Middle Kingdom that are on view together for the first time. Do we ever get tired of Egypt and its tombs? Answer: No. They're like dinosaurs and vampires.
