Lon Chaney/Alloy Orchestra Collaborate Print E-mail
Oct 30, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Fri. Oct. 30

It was a hit in the theatre and a bomb as re-made movie. But "Phantom of the Opera," the 1925 movie starring Lon Chaney retains its creepy power (all right with a littlLon Chaneye kitsch in there, now). We're guessing when The Alloy Orchestra scores "Phantom of the Opera Live“ at the Center for the Arts at the Armory Friday Oct. 30, it will benefit from the Boston trio's mix of junk percussion, state of the art electronics and wild imagination. The Alloys are just back from a European tour and they'll be playing live to "Phantom," while, preceding thta, [R/A} and DJ Dzinga will score the film based on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher." Yes, it's approaching Halloween. But this is a rather artful way to celebrate the ghoulish holiday without you resorting to playing dressup at age when perhaps your time has passed. Starts at 7:15. Tickets: $21 advance/$26 day of.
