The Horror! The Horror! On Screen at Somerville Theatre Print E-mail
Oct 24, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Sat. Oct. 24

You've got to figure Boston's most gregarious horrorshow guy, J Cannibal (in photo) would be involved in a cinematic marathon called "Horror 'Thon '09" at the Somerville TJ Cannibalheatre Saturday Oct. 24, and he is. The leader of Black Cat Burlesque is your genial host, as you sit through 12 hours of horror movies for the price of $25. The theme this year? You're never going to guess ... Vampires. Of course, there's no "Twilight" here. You'll get "The Fearless Vamprie Killers," "Tsui Hark's Vampire Hunters," "Martin," "Vampire"/"Return of Dracula"/"The Monster That Challenged the World," "Vampire's Kiss and "Fright NIght." Then, we get more specific, with not just vampires, but Dracula movies: "Herzog's Nosferatu," "Dracula Blows His Cool," "Coppola's Dracula," "Warhol's Dracula," "Blacula" and "Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride." Of only beef: Hey, why none of the Hammer Drac films made by Christopher Lee, still to our minds the best Drac ever? Maybe it helped that we saw them at an age where they were truly terrifyling - young teen - but even viewed in the adult world, they're pretty damn creepy. Still, you'll get your blood-soacked film of cinematic fang-induced bloodspilling.
