Sat. March 14 You can only watch the Tour de France. You can participate in Tour de Champagne, b ecause, well, it’s coming here Saturday March 14. It is what it sounds like: A whole lotta brands, smaller houses and major alike, being served up for your pleasure at the Charles Hotel. (This tour, of seven US cities, started back in 2007, so it’s not quite as much of a marathon-like thing as the one with bicycles.) And you’re not just sipping that sparkling delight from across the sea. There’s food, glorious food. You’ve got the culinary talents of chef Roland Mesnier, who served as Executive Pastry Chef for the White House for 25 years and has created unique and beautiful desserts for five Presidents. He’s one of several chefs, folks representing Radius, Mantra, Avila and others. There will be tasting and champagne drinking stations all over the place. Starts at 7, runs ‘til 10. $115 gets you in the door. Pony up $150 and you make in into the fin de soirée at the Regatta Bar, where VIP guests will continue to mingle and enjoy live music and additional complimentary champagne and cognac. The Jeremy Carlstedt Band will be playing jazz; Nespresso will serve the coffee and don’t forget the dessert and chocolate buffet.
