Ain't Nothin' But a Gorehound: J. Cannibal's Feast of Flesh at Brattle Print E-mail
Mar 20, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Fri. March 20

The horror, the horror. Horror is, of course, a staple of the Boston Underground Film Festival, which kicks off March 8. J. Cannibal, (in photo) producer and MC of the bi-annual "J. Cannibal's Feast of Flesh" zombie fest, is on board, bringing a program of horror shJ. Cannibalorts hand-picked from the BUFF meat locker. In a too-weird-not-to-be-true scenario, Cannibal is also an undertaker - his day job. It may not be unreasonable to consider him Boston's king of horror; hey, "Hostage" guy Eli Roth doesn't live here anymore. Anyway, Cannibal has put together an evening of cannibalistic cowboys, gun-totin' grannies, homicidal Christmas trees and nightmarish animations. Says Mr. Cannibal: "There are films here that made me laugh and clap, and a few that genuinely creeped me out. When you cut people open for a living it takes a lot to scare you, or make you laugh. Some of these images have stayed with me for weeks; I think horror fans will be very pleased." Admission to all this, like all Boston Underground Film Festival events, is $8. The night's line-up is set to include: "Dead Bones" (19 min.) "I, Zombie" (4 min.) "Guns and Butter" (12 min.) "Popsicle" (16 min.) "Treevenge" (14 min.) "The Facts in the Case of Mister Hollow" (3 min.) and "Heart of Karl" (20 min.) If you come in costume, you've got a shot at winning passes to the next "J. Cannibal's Feast of Flesh," on April 11th. Takes place Friday March 20 at 7:30 at the Brattle Theatre.
