Keeping Stephen Fredette Rocking: A benefit at the Plough Print E-mail
Sunday, 09 November 2008

Sun. Nov. 9

Two shows to help offset the medical costs of Stephen Fredette, (in photo) former guitarist with Scruffy the Cat, now the Ponys, and many others along the way. Fredette got hit with lymphatic cancer, as have more than a few people in their 40s and 50s - like Joey RaStephen Fredetttemone - and the rock scene has rallied to his cause. It embarrasses Fredette slightly - he's always been one of the guys playing benefits for other people. But his friends, especially promoter-ring leader Billy Ruane, have put together another benefit for Fredette Sunday Nov. 9 at the Plough and Stars. (Ruane and and the Middle EAst staged one a year ago. Fredette said at the time: "I am entirely grateful." We assume he still feels the love.) What's coming up is actually two5benefits: One at 5 and one at 9. At 5, you'll get a stripped down Angeline, Eric Martin and the Illyrians, David Fredette - Steve's bro - and Therese Bellino, Pony and more. That show includes dinner. (To attend you'll want to RSVP: Call 617-497-6202, leave a message.) Then at 9, a second admission, and more rock. It kicks in with the Resophonics, the Frank Morey Band and the Growlers. The admission for the first part of the night is $10 (or whatever else you'd like to chip in) and for the second $5.
