Barney Frank Being Frank Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 November 2008

Thurs. Nov. 13

As this is being written, pre-election, I have no idea what frame of mind Rep. Barney Frank will in when he speaks at Ford Hall Forum at Suffolk University Thursday Nov. 13 at 6:30. Well, that may be disingenuous; I have an idea he'll be in a pretty good state of mind because I've been reading the news and following the polls and figure this time the Democrats would have to be even more adept than usual at shoRep. Barney Frankoting themselves in the foot last-minute to not gain the White House and a bunch of Congressional seats. I think Barney Frank will be in a darn fine mood discussing "Election 2008: Review and Forecase" with moderator Emily Rooney of WGBH's "Greater Boston." Then again, Frank, the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, may not be in that jolly a mood because it's not like America's economy (and other assorted problems) will do an immediate 180, no matter what Barack Obama does. But you've got to think - again, we're presuming the Obama victory here - Frank will use his rapier-like wit and sharp mind to point toward a brighter future. He's the House's Ted Kennedy - sharing the same unapologetic liberalism and, well, participation in a few unseemly incidents, too. He's one politician who's not afraid to go on "Real Time With Bill Maher" and bluster away with the best of them. He's a guy who makes you groan "Oh, Barney" upon occasion, but he lets it fly and in this age, where every moment is captured on video and one must proceed with caution, Frank is refreshingly frank.
The talk takes place at the Old South Meeting House and is free.
