It's the Time of the Season: Ghosts & Graveyards Beckon Print E-mail
Friday, 31 October 2008

Fri. Oct. 31

LAST CALL! We've done the haunted house trip on Halloweens past and enjoyed it - up to a point. How many times can a "ghoul" leap out at you and say "Boo!" or the equivalent thereof befoGhost Tourre you shrug it off? Another option for ersatz scares (and a bit of macabre edification): "The Ghosts & Gravestones Tour," put on by the Old Town Trolley folks. The 1 1/2 hour tour has its final swing Halloween (Friday), on the hour, 6-9 p.m. Some of the things you'll see and hear about along the way: the dark story behind Lewis Wharf's real “House of Usher” as well as another tale by Boston–native Edgar Allan Poe, “The Cask of Amontillado," ghostly behavior of Beacon Hill, Boston Common's “Hanging Tree," Boston Harbor's mythical Lady In Black, phantom Ships sailing along with full cargo holds and ... no crew, the eerie secrets of The Omni Parker House Hotel, the disturbing details behind the Most Haunted Building. And more. You get the picture. (You'll also get a walk through some interesting burial grounds.) An adult ticket is $36, kids under 13, $23.
