Haunted Boston From Spring to Fall: Ghosts & Graveyards Beckon Print E-mail
Oct 31, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Sat. Oct. 31

Yes, we all tend to think ghosts and goblins when October beckons, but the Old Town TrolleGhost and Graveyards Toury Folks have their "The Ghosts & Gravestones Tour" up and running now and going through Halloween. Who says pseudo-horror, the supernatural and and all that have only a month to play in our minds? (Certainly, horror flicks are released all the time.) And why not do this alternative tour - quasi-macabre, but not without humor - during the warm weather? The 1 1/2 hour tour runs starts on the half hour, 7-9 p.m, with today Halloween being the last day of the tour.  Some of the things you'll see and hear about along the way: What about the secret tunnels under the North End? How about the practice of re-selling tomb spaces? What was "The Day of Darkness" that swept over Boston in 1780? There's more about Boston Common's “Hanging Tree," Boston Harbor's mythical Lady In Black, phantom ships sailing along with full cargo holds and ... no crew, the eerie secrets of The Omni Parker House Hotel, the disturbing details behind the Most Haunted Building. You get the picture. (You'll also get a walk through some interesting burial grounds - twi news added this year making a total of four. You get two per trip.) An adult ticket is $37, kids under 13, $24.
