It's DressUp Time at T.T's: Experience Virtual Bowie, Roxy, Velvets, New Order Print E-mail
Saturday, 01 November 2008

Sat. Nov. 1

T.T. the Bear's can generally be counted upon to have quality bands evolving into well-known bands from yesteryear around Halloween time. Various shows are sprinkled all of wBryan Ferry of Roxy Musicww.jimsullivanink, as you may have noticed. But T.T.'s has a very good show in for Halloween night itself: RSL Music Blog presents: The UK's Rumble Strips, Birdmonster, Teenage Prayers, and Vivian Darkbloom. Which means you'll have to get your band identify switch on Saturday and, folks, it's a good one: Lifestyle as New Order; Sidewalk Driver as Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars; MeAndJoanCollins; Garagedogs as Velvet Underground, and Logan 5 & The Runners as Roxy Music. (Roxy's Bryan Ferry is in the photo. How could we not ... ) We could wax ecstatic about all the choices: The Velvets started the ball rolling for all these bands, in a way; Roxy brought retro-camp to the fore and brought us a tape manipulating maestro named Eno; David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" album was the classic rise-and-fall disc that had not a bad tune on it and put Bowie in the forefront of the UK glam movement of the early '70s; New Order rose out of the ashes of Joy Division and brought sad, melancholic guitar-and-synth based music to headphones and dancefloors. How good are the cover bands? There's your gamble, but it's only $10. Starts at 9.
