What Are You Doing Election Night? The Family Jewels Hava an Idea .. Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 November 2008

Tues. Nov. 4

A fairly important day in American history. You will have done your duty at the polls and then you can spend the night glued to the TV - nervousness never vanishes no matter what the polls say - or through caution to the wind and go out for a celebratory party. The Family Jewels, singer-guitarist Asa Brebner's good-time doo-wop group, will be entertaining from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Plough & Stars. Asa filled us in on what oneAsa Brebner might expect at the little club off Cambridge's Central Square: "Good food, music and flirting with well preserved women and debonair, aging Lotharios.- A literal Cialis gobbling, butt-tuck ogling, gut sucking in Bonanza!" Well, that, he says, at the vibe at every Family Jewels show. He adds this "will also be a special election night performance. This will be open to the public but if you want a table you'd better get there early to witness the fetid festival of liberal glee should Obama get elected or partake in the cyanide laced Kool-aid should the greater of the two evils prevail. I'm kidding, really, about Obama being the lesser of two evils.
Naysayers have been intoning the Coke Versus Pepsi anthem relating to the indistinguishable nature these days between the Dumbocrats and the Repugnicans.I am not immune to those pronouncements. The idea that there is an evil corporate puppet master pulling the strings behind the political smokescreen is an attractive one to anybody who feels jaded and cynical about the chaos and the immutable unknowability of truth. But let's face it folks! THE PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT YOU  WALL STREET, WAL-MART, CAP'N CRUNCH, GOODYEAR TIRES and  High Fructose Corn Syrup are just not that smart. Or are they? Oh well- whatever. Right on Brothers and Sisters! Power to the people!" Cover: $5.
