Sat. Oct. 4 Regular JSink readers know how much we love cemeteries, and it has nothing - well, maybe a little - to do with Halloween, zombies and the walking dead. No, we like the walking living more and there's no better please to meet more of those types than at Forest Hills Cemetery, where Saturday Oct. 4 you can tour Victorian and contemporary sculpture with the Forest Hill Trust's Curators of Historic Collections Elise Ciregna and Meredith Safford. They'll take you past work by renowned 19th century artist Daniel Chester French and virtuoso, but anonymous, stone carvers, as well as intriguing site-specific contemporary sculpture. You'll visit some of the Trust's Contemporary Sculpture Path, which contains 30 works of art which explore nature, family, memory, life after death and other themes inspired by Forest Hills. If it's a lovely fall day - and we think it will be - take advantage here. Knowledge, tranquility, exercise. All for a $9 admission. Particulars: Meet at Main Gate. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water; this is a 2-hour walk (with frequent stops) over varied terrain. 95 Forest Hills Ave., Jamaica Plain, 617-524-0128 www.foresthillstrust.org
