Deborah Henson-Conant is many things, but one of them is certainly marketing genius. Really, in this day and age, how many people - youngish people - would want to go out and see a quiet harpist sit and play? Henson-Conant is a harpist but she moves about and makes sounds you wouldn't expect, with the New York Times calling her "reshaping the serenely Olympian harp into a jazz instrument by warping it closer to the blues." Did we mention she's morphed the concert harp into an electric strap-on 31-string hybrid? Henson-Conant concludes a Tuesday night (7:30) series at the Regent Theatre, where there are three segments to the gig. The multi-part show: The first  is Invention where Deb and a guest present their individual music, the second Interview/Experiment Proposition involves a discussion with the guest about the structure of their work based on what they just did. At the end, they propose a collaborative experiment on what they've discused. Finally, they execute that, call it Alchemy, and, time permitting, hold a Q and A. Whew. It's $8. She joins composer/cellist Eugene Friesen on the Tuesday Oct. 24th.
