Mon. July 14 Today, of course, is Bastille Day when, um, let's see, yes, the French revolutionaries stor med the Bastille, and we celebrate it here, probably for the same reasons we do St. Patrick's Day and Columbus Day and all the other vaguely ethnic celebrations. Hey, my mother's ancestors came down to the States from Quebec and their ancestors got there from France. At any rate, the Beehive, one of our favorite newish spots, is celebrating with a Bastille Day party starting at 5 p.m., with a special a la carte French menu They reportedly will have members of the French Navy in attendance - yes, I know, France has a Navy? - a DJ spinning retro French pop and singer Violette de Bartillat.
