Friday, Oct. 13

Where did all the Goths go? I know I wondered that when they tore down Man Ray in Cambridge's Central Square and put up, well, it must be a condo complex. But you can't just obliterate an entire group of people, even if they're prone to black clothes, white make-up, sexy-spooky poses and a fondness for Bauhaus or industrial rock. They don't just disappear. T.T. the Bear's knows that so the club that was kitty-corner across the street from Man Ray has picked up the ball, at least once a month. Friday the 13th - how appropriate - is the next night called XMortis Monster A-Go-Go. It features the performance troupe Black Cat Burlesque - which we've seen and like and dj Chris Ewen spins "groovy goth" while Industrial Terri "pours the potion in the laboratory." We're not sure exactly what that means but we're sure it's harmless. Most Goths are. There is a strict dress code here: Goth, Fetish, Industrial, Monster. At the bare minimum, all black. It's a $10 deal but only $5 if you're there between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
