DJ Breeazy Takes You Back at the Foundation Print E-mail
Thursday, 04 September 2008

Thurs. Sept. 4

Yes, you know you're getting older when music from the '80s and '90s is being played in a club under the rubric of "Throwback Thursdays." Of course, we all know today's music is tomorrow's nostalgia, but sometimes your mind plays tricks on you - like that songs sounds so fresh it's like yesterday. At any rate, the Foundation in Kenmore Square has this deal "Throwback Thursday" deal with DJ Breeazy. (He starts at 9; the club's open 5 p.m. - 2 a.m.) The club promises to serve fuzzy navels and kami-kazis.

As to Breeazy, here's what he told us about his musical choices and style: "I'd say the arrangement of music is as diverse as it gets…playing everything from '70s funk (Earth, Wind, and Fire/BeeGees/Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5), to '80s dance music (MJ, Diana Ross, Madonna, Prince, Irene Cara) to 90s hip-hop/rnb (Bell Biv Devoe, Boyz II Men, Salt N Pepa, Mariah Carey, Toni Tone Tony, Rob Base).I'd say I have tended to stray a little from the '90s alternative music, because the clientele that has been there over the past few weeks had a rather unappealing response to such music."
Ya gotta give the people what they want.
Breeazy bio/background: Breeazy is Brandon Lyons. Ever since his days as a child growing up in the suburbs of Boston, nothing has moved him like music has. Whether it is a famous song by a legendry crooner, the irie sounds of Bob Marley, or a melodic hip hop beat, to Breeazy, it’s all the same, an experience. After graduating from college in Vermont in 2004, he moved back to Boston to begin one of the most amazing journeys of his life, his life as a DJ. After putting together enough money to buy his first turntables and mixer, he quickly set off on his path to become a night club DJ. He spent countless hours in his “lab” at his Brighton apartment, listening, carving, and perfecting his craft. When he wasn’t working his 9-5 job, his life was dedicated to music and developing his skill.
