Wednesday, 18 June 2008

Thurs. June 19

If you know the name Chip Rives, you probably know hims as the guy who came in and rescued the Boston Music Awards, producing it the last few years. But he's also a songwriter. Says Rives: "I've been writing country music for the last couple of years, going to Nashville every couple of months to co-write with pros and meet with publishers. On Thursday June 19, some Berklee kids are going to perform some of my songs at Café 939. It's an early show - Tom Glynn opens at 8:20, we go on just before 9, and it's over around 10." How serious is Rives about this? Serious, but he avers, "This is a passion/interest/love. I enjoy the writing aspect. I don't have an
interest in performing. Just enjoy the creative process and trying to learn the craft. I still have my day job." Glynn on piano/bass, Dave Rizutti on electric/pedal steel, Rob Floyd on drums on drums." the guest guitarist is O Positive's Dave Herlihy. Rives says he's written about 30l you'll hear 12 on Thursday.
