Here, we're talking the Allman Brothers Band, which made the seminal live record, "Live at the Fillmore East" back when Duane was alive and the band was at its peak. But there have been other peaks - oh yes, valleys, too - and it's somehow heartwarming to think that there's still the summertime fun of the Allman Brothers Band shed tour, which comes to the Tweeter Center Sunday Aug. 16. And the band does have three founding members: keyboardist Allman and percussionists Butch Trucks and Jaimoe. It's also got Trucks son, guitarist Derek (who has his own Derek Trucks Band), and another hotshot guitarist Warren Haynes (who has his Govt. Mule). Percussionist Marc Quinones and bassist Oteil Burbridge round it out. We have no reason to think their lovely rock 'n' blues stew won't satisfy the soul. And they're on tour with old pal Bob Weir & Ratdog, kinda like those old Gratefuld Dead/Allmans dates in years gone by. Tickets: On cheap side of $50 to $29.50 (all things, like the Police and Neil Young, considered), 884 S. Main St. (aka Rte. 140), Mansfield, 617-931-2000 www.ticketmaster.com |
