Paul Stanley: In the Flesh and On Canvas Print E-mail
Saturday, 26 April 2008

Sat. April 26

Paul Stanley, KISS's lead singer-guitarist, rock 'n' roll's all night and parties every day. And he paints, too. Really. Now, you're thinking: "Oh, great, another star wants to dabPaul Stanleyble in another medium" - you know like Bruce Willis and playing the blues. Stanley's stuff is really quite good, very, if I may say, in the manner of Peter Max. Stanley has designed a number of KISS covers, and was art major and graduate of the prestigious High School of Music and Art in New York City. He's returned to his paintings - in between lucrative KISS tours - over the years, and now he's got an exhibition up  Saturday April 26 at the Wentworth Gallery at the Chestnut Hill Mall.

And, the man will be there (sans makeup) we expect from  6-9 p.m. on Saturday. It's free to get in ... meaning the tony mall may well be deluged with KISS fans of all ages - and they do span all ages - many probably sporting KISS makeup. Could be quite a hoot. Will there be people interested in buying Stanley's work? Yes, there may well be. He's already sold millions of dollars worth, and, keep in mind, the '70s KISS fan is well into middle-age and may well have accumlated some cash. Stanley paints abstracts and portraits - including his fellow band members. There's lots of color and vibrancy. Or, the way his publicist puts it, "He aims to maximize the direct, physical impact of his paintings through scale, texture, color and simplicity of images." Check out his work on the website below.
