Fri. April 11 So, here we go, recommending you go see somebody when we haven't heard a note of what they've played. The somebody here is Michael Imperioli, and you may kno w him best as the messed mobster Christopher Moltisanti on the late HBO hit "The Sopranos." (Boy, did he go down in flames!) Anyway Imperioli has a band called La Dolce Vita - yes, we know every actor has a band, it's de rigeur almost - but we like the New York Daily News' description of a New York gig as music made in "an arch punk style like Richard Hell and the Voidoids."
That, in our world, is a solid recommendation. When Hell, wasn't a mess himself - he's clean now - they were one of the leading NY punk bands of the mid-'70s. Now, we don't expect Imperioli, who sings and plays guitar, to be the new Richard Hell, but we like the guy's choices in acting roles - he'll be in the upcoming "Lovely Bones" - and we spent part of an evening enjoying vodka at Mohegan Sun with him a few years back. Good guy, good fun. So, we're thinking $12 is not too big a gamble to take on La Dolce Vita at Bill's Bar Friday April 11. The opener is Patti Rothenberg. Doors at 8:30. 5 1/2 Lansdowne St. 800-468-7619 www.rockonconcerts.com |
