Sat. March 15 When we hear about a concert billed as "Angels and Demons," our mind goes to bands like Black Sabbath and the nature of the afterlife. That and a lot of headbanging. Sorry, it's what we were weaned upon. The "Angels and Demons" pro gram you'll hear at All Saints Parish - perhaps the venue is a tipoff - Saturday March 15 is not that kind of program. It is presented by the Brookline Chorus, which is not that kind of group and directed by Lisa Graham (in photo) who's not that kind of gal. Graham, in fact, will be giving a pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m. She'll be talking about the program, which includes J.S. Bach’s two cantatas BWV 19 and 149, which depict the heavenly battle between St. Michael and Satan accompanied by his fiery attendants. Then, there willl be Benjamin Britten’s cantata “The Company fof Heaven," which also honors St. Michael. Commissioned by the BBC as a radio feature for St. Michael’s Day, Britten’s music is combined with spoken texts, transporting the listener with soaring lyricism, dynamic rhythm, and inspiring lyrics. The guest readers: Sam Cornish, Boston's Poet Laureate, David Killian, Rector, All Saints Parish, educator Richard Bradley and authors Arthur Golden and Susan Quinn. Your soloists: Alexandra Lang, soprano, Stephanie Kacoyanis, mezzo-soprano,Ethan Bremner, tenor. Sepp Hammer, baritone.
