Classical in Club Cafe: The BMOP's Series Continues Print E-mail
Wednesday, 26 March 2008

Wed. March 26

Sure, the words "underground" and "orchestra" don't often go together, but The Boston Modern Orchestra Project has been putting these two concepts together for five seasons now.  It's what they call their "BMOP Club Concert Series:  Bringing New Music to Uncommon Places." The means, really, a club. What tGil Rosehey're doing at the Club Cafe's Moonshine Room Wednesday March 26 is serving up a taste of their orchestral Double Entendre concert. Who's playing? Violinists Colin Jacobsen and Carla Kihlstedt (BMOP’s guest soloists); Brooklyn Rider, a young Brooklyn-based string quartet led by Colin Jacobsen, Johnny Gandlesman (violin), Nicholas Cords (viola), and Eric Jacobson (cello);  accordionist Michael Ward-Bergeman; and composer/vocalist Lisa Bielawa, BMOP’s Composer-in-Residence. It starts at 7 and costs $20. (In photo, BMOP head Gil Rose.)
