Static of the Gods Pure Pop for Now People Print E-mail
Tuesday, 26 February 2008

Tues. Feb. 26

Is there anyone - anyone! - who could disagree with what Jen Johnson sings on her band Static of the Gods CD, "Cycles Follow Signs": "The city is done ... Everybody wants a square of lawn and a private garage, a place where you can be anonymously hiding out among the strip malls." Not that we want to, mind you. But, jeez, just look at this country: from strip mall to not-so-shining strip mall. The Boston-based Static of the Gods - whose music has a lilting, upbeat feel to it - start at national tour right at home - at T.T. the Bear's Place - Tuesday Feb. 26. Johnson's vocals are full of wistfullness and want, and the band mixes sweetness and light with a certain guitar crunch. The band is working on its next full length CD, due next fall. Static of the Gods opens, followed by Pela and Lifejacket. Tickets: $8.
