Boston Exhibit and Museum Reviews

Reviews of the lastest exhibits and Boston educational tours hosted by the area's most prominent locations, from the MOS-Boston to the Museum of Fine Arts.

Boston is fortunate to count some of the country’s most distinguished museums and galleries as well as smaller, more intimate venues among its offerings. It’s not unusual, as a result, for the city to simultaneously host a selection of exhibits during any given time. Whether you seek a moment of solitude to reflect or one of the many Boston educational tours of local exhibits, there is always something to enjoy and learn.

For the young and young-at-heart, MOS-Boston features both live presentations and an abundance of interactive exhibits daily. Whether you consider yourself a science geek, like to tinker or are looking for a family-outing option, the Museum of Science offers an exciting collection of attractions from film-based exhibits to hands on learning experiences.

Artists and art lovers alike will appreciate one of the largest museums in the United States, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts. Featuring over 450,000 works of art, the MFA is a must for any Boston educational tour. The collection of groundbreaking fine arts exhibits from Egyptian artifacts, photography, jewelry and works from such masters as Van Gogh, Monet and Degas is second to none. Exhibits at the Museum of Fine Arts are rotated, and often include items from around the world, so there is always something new to experience.

The MFA is not the only source of art exhibits in the city, however. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, for example, boasts a collection of thousands of paintings, sculptures and textiles. It is comprised of pieces from 19th-century France, Medieval Europe, Asia and Italy.

Exhibits with a more community-based flavor are also available throughout the city. The Brookline Arts Center, for example, showcases a varied selection of exhibits by local artists. Exhibits rotate monthly or seasonally and include photography, sculpture and paintings among other forms. The BAC occasionally also features presentations by the artists themselves.
