Boston Arts and Entertainment Event Reviews

A Boston arts and entertainment event guide including reviews of upcoming music productions, film events and special performances.

Boston has long been a center for all forms of nightlife, culture, arts and entertainment. The city offers something for virtually everyone from tastings at trendy wine bars to upscale charity events and everything in between.

With an ample supply of venues, the city plays host to a number of festivals, music productions, sports events (seriously, between the Red Sox and the Patriots, Boston practically invented the sports event) and performances throughout the year. From the large scale venues like the Bank of America Pavilion (still fondly remembered in a former incarnation as the Boston Garden) to more intimate coffee houses, Boston’s arts and entertainment event calendar is always full.

The Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, for example, offers an impressive selection of independent, international and animated films, but also hosts a series of well-received events such as the annual Coolidge Award, celebrated film series, and readings by select local and national authors. The only operating non-for-profit Art Deco theatre in the area, the Coolidge’s unique atmosphere makes a spectacular setting to enjoy Boston’s best.

Likewise, a healthy selection of music productions are hosted at equally unique venues such as the Shubert theatre, (the Theatre District’s “Little Princes”), the Wang Center and Jordan Hall. Offering a selection of arts and entertainment events that include concerts, Broadway productions, dance and opera company performances, Boston audiences are never without choices.

No matter what type of events suit your taste, whether your idea of fun is a Sam Adams during the seventh-inning stretch at Fenway, taking in the latest performance of the Boston Ballet or catching the annual Flower Show at the Bayside Expo Center, there is always something going on.

Check out the arts and entertainment event reviews below for the latest happenings or our archived reviews for events worth catching next time around.
