Arts and Entertainment Reviews of Readings in Boston.

A collection of arts and entertainment reviews covering readings by authors, poets and musicians.

Boston’s ample arts and entertainment calendar includes readings by a varied collection of nationally and locally-celebrated authors, poets and musicians. Bookstores throughout the city host regularly scheduled series as well as featured readings. Given the scope of readings hosted, there are many opportunities to catch up on the last best sellers, discover little known gems or enjoy the company of fellow booklovers.

Many local bookstores and chains host a number of readings by featured authors, poets, celebrities and musicians turned writers. It is a great opportunity to glean a new perspective on your favorite works, a chance for a one-on-one dialogue with an author and a way to discover books you may not have otherwise considered.

Brookline Booksmith in Coolidge Corner, for one, hosts an on-going Writers & Readers series. Nationally-acclaimed authors and poets, as well as a healthy selection of locally-based talent are featured throughout the month. The series showcases a wide selection of genres, with offerings that include mainstream bestsellers, poetry, cult classics, as well as works by celebrities and musicians turned-authors. Most readings are held at the Booksmith, but some are scheduled instead at the Coolidge Corner Theatre when a larger venue is needed to accommodate a sizable group.

A selection of readings and book signings are also hosted at the Harvard Coop, Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores. With the variety of authors featured at any given time, these readings can satisfy virtually any taste in arts and entertainment.
